Harvey Dodson Hopkins September 19th, 1927 - March 4th, 2014
Zebulon – Harvey Dodson Hopkins, 86, son of the late “Teet” and Lucy Pearce Hopkins and a life-long resident of the Hopkins Crossroads community went to be with the Lord Tuesday. He was a tobacco farmer and retired from J&M Chevrolet. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Harvey enjoyed riding around viewing the surrounding community and visiting at country stores. He also enjoyed taking walks around the farm. He was preceded in death by his wife Camilla D. Hopkins; sisters Zola Duke, Viola Nowell and Polly Brannan; brothers Ivan, Willie B., Billy and W. H. “Buggar” and Cecil. He is survived by his son Craig Hopkins and wife Sherrie; grandson Tyler Hopkins and wife Kenzie, all of the Hopkins Crossroads community; brother Kenneth and wife Sue of Zebulon. He looked forward to becoming a great-grandfather in April. Funeral service 2 PM Thursday Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church. Burial at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church beginning at 12 noon. Contributions may be made to the Hopkins Rural Fire Department, Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church or Zebulon Baptist Church.
